Mother of Baylor star Perry Jones waves candy during games to encourage son

Sophmore forward Perry Jones III is Baylor’s second-leading scorer (13.1 ppg) and the team’s leading rebounder (7.5 rpg), but did you know that candy is his true motivation? Jones’ mother Teri spent most of the day at the Big 12 Tournament in Kansas City Thursday waving candy from the stands to encourage her son while he played.

Teri, who has a serious heart condition, waved around Jolly Ranchers and Twizzlers, saying that Perry “loves” Jolly Ranchers. She gives him candy after his team wins. He must have had his pick of the store after going 31 and 11 in Baylor’s 82-74 win over Kansas State.

I know this seems cute, but it comes across as a ripoff of Marshawn Lynch, who received attention for his post-touchdown Skittles tradition. But you can’t say this woman wasn’t thrilled:
