Terrence Williams Criticizes Louisville After Upset, Angers Fans

The Louisville Cardinals have the dubious distinction of being the highest-seeded team to be upset early in the NCAA tournament. The fourth-seeded Cardinals were knocked off by 13-seed Morehead State 62-61 on a three-pointer by Demonte Harper.

There’s no doubt the embarrassment has been felt by the coaches, players, and fans, and of course the alumni aren’t happy either. Lost Letterman brought my attention to some tweets by former Louisville player Terrence Williams that has angered the team’s supporters.

After the loss Thursday, Williams tweeted “Hhahaha morehead st what is that? I remember when we played guys like that was scared to look at us on the court man times have changed.” After getting some criticism, he added “Why these half a** ville fans mad at me I didn’t loose the game all I said was we beat teams like that they didn’t have that same passion.”

Williams stayed all four years at the Ville and his teams made the Elite Eight his junior and senior season, so he has earned the right to call out other folks. But as far as disappointment goes, Terrence should know all about it. In his senior season in 2009, Louisville entered the tournament as the top ranked team. They blasted Arizona 103-64 in the Sweet 16 and then gloated over the win only to get blown out by Michigan State in the Elite Eight. Not everything goes as planned, and Williams should know that.
