Auburn staffer Ashley Ward fine despite kickoff to face
Football players make it seem like fielding a kickoff is easy, but here’s a reminder just how difficult — and painful — it can be.
Ashley Ward, who takes photos and video for Auburn media, was hit in the face by a kickoff ball when she was trying to field it during the Auburn-LSU game on Saturday.
Ward tweeted in response to a few videos to say she was “good” and “okay” despite being hit. She even did this interview with WBRC’s Christina Chambers.

“Well I was trying to catch the ball. I made this thing with like the manager of the football team that I would be able to catch the ball if it were kicked to me,” Ward told WBRC. “I obviously missed it and caught the ball with my face instead of my hands.
“I’m okay! Just a little red, but I’m okay.”

That ball to the face looked really painful, but thankfully Ward says she is doing just fine. And now she’s gone viral unfortunately for an embarrassing reason. She just needs some redemption like this infamous spectator.
