Poaching is not exactly a new concept in collegiate athletics, and it is something that coaches from all major programs across the country have to be prepared to deal with. Having said that, the stunt Oregon State appears to have pulled with Hawaii crosses the line.
On Friday morning, Hawaii head coach Nick Rolovich shared some evidence on Twitter that Oregon State was actively trying to recruit his players. He blasted the coaching staff of the Beavers.
My apologies for our players not being able to attend your Spring game. Ours was the same day, bad timing. Quick question, in the 203 years of coaching, none of you realized you couldn’t actively recruit another school’s players? Sent to campus? #leakydam #sloppybeavers pic.twitter.com/2djcmgFbLH

Again, this is nothing new. We all remember how Lane Kiffin shamelessly tried to recruit a star player from another program when he was with USC, so we’ve seen it plenty of times before. But for Oregon State to be so blatant with it, you’d have to think they’re going to claim there was some sort of error with paperwork.
