Jalen Hurts was a model teammate despite benching
Jalen Hurts acted like a model teammate despite being benched at halftime of the national championship game on Monday night.
After being unable to do much against Georgia’s defense in the first half and going 3-for-8 passing, Hurts was replaced by true freshman Tua Tagovailoa to start the second half. Tagovailoa gave Alabama the spark they needed, directing a touchdown drive on his second possession. And guess who was the first player out to congratulate him? Hurts.
The first guy out to congratulate Tua … Jalen Hurts.

In his postgame interview with ESPN, Hurts had nothing but a positive attitude for his teammate.

He also didn’t take any bait from reporters:
A smiling Jalen Hurts asked on the field multiple times about Tua coming in for him, responded the same way: “We’re national champions.”

Hurts’ comportment was incredible. It’s that kind of leadership that helped Alabama win the national championship. What an impressive dude.
