LSU to wear purple helmets against Mississippi State
LSU will be wearing purple helmets rather than their usual yellow ones for Saturday’s game against Mississippi State.
LSU tweeted photos on Thursday of what the jerseys and helmets will look like for the game. The back of the helmets have an American flag and 1918 on them.

The uniforms pay respect to the 100-year anniversary of the 1918 Silent Season. The Tigers did not play any games that season due to World War I.

No nameplate will appear on the back of the uniforms to honor the unknown members of the LSU community who died in World War I. The color of the helmets will shift from purple to gold under the lights.
