Middle School Coach Breaks Player’s Collarbone With Hit (Video)

Anytime a person without pads goes against someone wearing full pads, it would be safe to assume the person wearing the pads wins, right? Wrong. When the pad-wearer happens to be 13 years old and the padless is a full-grown adult, the laws of physics can be tweaked slightly.  According to MyFoxDetroit.com, a 13-year-old from the Roseville school in Southfield, Mich. suffered a broken collarbone when his coach put on a helmet, grabbed the ball, ran straight at him and hit him.

“The coach decided to put on a kid’s helmet, and so I was picked,” Alex Androsuk explained. “It was me and two other kids were picked by the head coach. So, we had to go out there and try to tackle him. The coach has seen the video and said I was faking my injury.”

Faking a broken collarbone, huh.  I guess that’s one accusation to throw out there if you’re looking to get yourself out of a heap of trouble.  Check out the video of the incident:

The victim’s father, Bernard Androsuk, was understandably heated after he found out what had happened.

“He was crying and holding his shoulder real funny, and I asked him what happened,” Bernard said. “The first thing out of his mouth was Coach Joe hit him. Now, him crying, I had to get him to settle down to find out what actually happened. You don’t want to know my true reaction. I’m not going to say it on TV, but I’m just going to say, at the least, really disgusted with the whole thing.”

In an era where coaches of amateur football programs feel the need to put bounties on opponents heads, stuff like this can’t be happening.  Even if the coach didn’t intend to harm the players, you have to be smarter than to put on a helmet and start trading hits with 13-year-old kids.

A GROWN MAN running a tackling drill with 13 year olds?  I played football for 8 years and NEVER did a coach do that  EVER!

Had the player tried to correctly tackle he wouldn’t have broken his collarbone and I doubt the coach would have tried to do that again. Fundamentals! You have players that are in shape and fully padded up scared to hit a out of shape coach with nothing but a helmet on! The coach should be fired because the players lack the fundamentals to tackle correctly!

i must say that the posts on here calling a kid soft, poor fundaments, and saying how big the kid is. you people should go back to the hole you crawled out from under. i played football from the time i was in 3rd till my 2nd year in high school. never did a coach do this. yeah the kid is big. that makes no difference. there is a big difference in 13 year old big kid strength and full grown man, even out of shape man strength. no only that but this coach has the benefit of probably playing for several years. this kid has probably been playing for alot less. this coach deserves to lose his job at the very least.

I think it is important to take into account the larger picture.  How is this coach with the kids overall.  Is this truly an unfortunate event or was he being malicious.  It is too bad that adults in today’s society are so concerned with litigation and what they can sue for over every situation rather than being human and understanding that not all bad things mean someone has to pay…sometimes things are just accidents.
I do also feel, however, that it did not appear that they coach was acting in an aggressive or bullying manner and was probably trying to have fun with the team.  My kid’s coaches have run drills with them to help them learn…also the kids love getting to hit the coach!
I absolutely feel that todays kids are softer than kids in the past and too ready to look for someone to blame when things go wrong… but what do we expect?  Look at the mindset of the adults raising them…
Why must the question be about litigation, should the coach lose his job, is the kid a weakling, and so on…why should it even make the news?  really?  It is an unfortunate accident and something that all involved can learn from…end of story and let’s move on…

i agree, but look at the father’s reaction and remarks…what do expect? The kid has obviously been taught that nothing he does is wrong…it must be someone else’s fault…it’s an epidemic in American society today…

If the kid was a digger we would have mal cumhead x and the reverend with no church jackazz all over this!!! It would be a hate crime, and the coach would be fired for being a racist!!!! The vunerables would sue for millions……..

are you ppl serious?? so what that the coach put a helmet on and ran into the kids in a tackleing drill. my coaches did this all the time with us. IT WAS FUN FOR US TO TACKLE A COACH. just look at all of them at the end of the video jumping on the coaches back to take him down. It clearly wasnt the big college star linebacker coach putting on a helmet and running over the kids. it was the 20 year old little 130lb assistant coach who misses high school sports. they are making it sound like the coach violently did this to punish the kids. more than likely the head coach said, “ok kids if you can tackle little weak assistant coach smalls, were done with practice today.” people these days….
