AJ McCarron reportedly rubbed teams the wrong way in interviews

AJ McCarronDespite his claims that he would go in the first round of the NFL Draft, former Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron was not selected until the fifth round by the Cincinnati Bengals. Some of McCarron’s behavior over the past few months may have something to do with that.

According to Pro Football Talk, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that McCarron rubbed teams “the wrong way” when he interviewed with them prior to the draft. Some talent evaluators reportedly did not like that McCarron proclaimed he would be a high pick.

In addition to that, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reportedly said that some teams considered it a red flag that McCarron would be doing a reality TV show with his fiancee, Katherine Webb.

We were confused that McCarron had plans to be involved in a reality show; he seems like a guy who’s strictly about football and business, so it didn’t make sense that he would consent to such a distraction, especially if he planned on trying to have an NFL career.

Whether you believe this stuff or not, it could certainly help explain why McCarron wasn’t selected until the 164th overall pick.
