As the top two picks in the 2016 NFL Draft, Jared Goff and Carson Wentz are going to be unavoidably compared as long as they are both in the NFL. For the Los Angeles Rams right now, who have Goff as their third stringer while Wentz prepares to helm the Philadelphia offense, that’s not necessarily a good thing.
Rams coach Jeff Fisher was inevitably asked about Wentz starting while Goff sits inactive, and he had a rather shady response.
“Maybe if we traded our starting quarterback, we’d start our rookie quarterback, too,” Fisher said, via Steve Wyche of NFL Media.
It seems like there’s a little bit of bite in that response. That said, Goff is a third stringer right now with Wentz apparently progressing more quickly. If Wentz is a success, Fisher is just going to have to get used to hearing about the Goff pick until he’s able to play in the NFL.
