Rex Ryan has lost 90 pounds since his lap-band surgery (Pictures)

Above are two pictures of Jets head coach Rex Ryan. On the left is Ryan photographed at the team’s training center on May 4th. On the right is Ryan photographed during the team’s January 17 playoff game against the Chargers in 2010. While Ryan looks large and overweight in both photos, you may notice that he looks less obese in the one on the left. That’s because Ryan has reportedly lost 90 pounds since the one on the right was taken.

Adam Schefter tweeted on Tuesday that Ryan has lost 90 pounds since undergoing lap-band surgery on March 13 2010. Ryan weighed 338 pounds at the time of his surgery, and he stated his goal was to get down to 250 pounds — about a 90-pound loss. Looks like he achieved his goal. He said in 2010 that he hadn’t weighed 250 since 1995.

It sounds to reason that Rex’s success with the procedure led to his brother, Rob, getting the same surgery this offseason. Rob Ryan has enjoyed similar successful results; he dropped 35 pounds in his first few months after having the procedure.

No, this isn’t free advertising for lap-band surgery — it’s a warning to Brandon Jacobs that he may no longer be able to call Rex “fat boy.”
