Sepp Blatter reportedly was being investigated by FBI
Sepp Blatter shockingly stepped down as FIFA president on Tuesday after recently being re-elected to the position for the unprecedented fifth time. The word is that the timing of his resignation is no coincidence; he was reportedly being investigated by the FBI.
ABC reports that Blatter was being investigated by the FBI and US prosecutors. They say that Feds are pursuing the case like an old-school racketeering case, and that it’s a race to see who will flip on Blatter first to protect themselves.
On Monday it was reported that the investigation was getting closer to Blatter as one of his top guys was found to be involved in a $10 million bribery scheme that helped give South Africa the 2010 World Cup.
Blatter avoided arrest from Swiss authorities last week and seemed like he might be able to escape charges, but now it looks like he is in trouble like many other FIFA officials.
