Aaron Murray may have season-ending knee injury (Video)

Aaron Murray left Saturday’s Georgia-Kentucky game late in the second quarter after suffering a left knee injury that may knock him out for the rest of the season.

Murray initially hurt his left knee on a running play, but he stayed in the game. He exited after throwing an interception on third-and-goal with his team up 28-10 less than three minutes before halftime. Murray was hit on his blind side as he was releasing the ball, and he was spun down to the ground.

Murray was very slow to get up from the hit and his left leg was just dangling as he was helped off the field:

Aaron Murray girlfriend is Kacie McDonnell

Aaron Murray is one of the better quarterbacks in the country, but little has been known about the personal life of the 23-year-old Georgia star. Like, say, who his girlfriend is. That detail has been uncovered, as it appears Murray is dating a young lady named Kacie McDonnell.

The folks at Busted Coverage were the first to realize something was going on when Murray posted the photo you see above on Instagram Saturday, which happened to be the eve of his birthday. If the name Kacie McDonnell sounds familiar, it may be that you remember her from a few years ago when she was reportedly dating Christian Ponder.

McDonnell is a traffic reporter who works for FOX 29 in Philadelphia, so it would seem she and Murray have a long distance relationship going on. She seems very much worth the effort.

Aaron Murray took Georgia offensive linemen out for ice cream

Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray looked like a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate in a 45-41 shootout victory over LSU on Saturday. The senior threw for four touchdowns and ran for another. Much of his success is owed to the stellar play of the Bulldogs offensive line.

Murray was hardly touched against the Tigers. He was not sacked once, and he clearly appreciated the protection he got. We know this because Murray took his offensive linemen out for ice cream on Monday to thank them.

Apparently this is not the first time Murray has shown his appreciation for the guys in the trenches. Junior guard Watts Dantzler tweeted last week that Murray had taken the offensive line out to dinner.

What a guy. We have heard of NFL running backs buying their offensive linemen gifts for opening up big running lanes, but it seems more rare for quarterbacks to show that kind of appreciation in college. Ice cream is certainly a great way to keep 300-pound men motivated to block.

Aaron Murray named to All-SEC first team over Johnny Manziel in coaches poll

Aaron-Murray-GeorgiaNot only was Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel the best player in the SEC last year, he was the best player in all of college football. Manziel capped off an incredible season by becoming the first ever freshman to win the Heisman Trophy. Apparently there are plenty of people who feel Johnny Football is due for a regression.

On Thursday, SEC coaches named Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray to the first-team All-SEC squad and Manziel to the second. Murray’s phenomenal play over the past few seasons has been overshadowed by Alabama’s dominance and Manziel emerging as one of the most polarizing figures in sports.

Last year, Murray became the first ever SEC quarterback to throw for more than 3,000 yards in three consecutive seasons. His 95 career touchdown passes are just 20 shy of the SEC record, so he should surpass that mark with ease if healthy this season. He also needs only 1,438 more passing yards to become the conference’s all-time leader in that category.

Of course, Manziel’s turbulent offseason may have helped Murray land the top spot. The NCAA is currently investigating a number of autograph signings that Manziel was allegedly involved in and may have taken money for, so the possibility of him being suspended remains intact.

Between the autograph scandal and the rumors about Manziel out partying before he was sent home from the Manning camp, it makes sense that the coaches are more confident in Murray heading into 2013. It isn’t difficult to make the argument that the Georgia quarterback seems more focused.

Aaron Murray hopes to take Alex Morgan out on a date, needs to fall in line

Athletes hitting on Alex Morgan via Twitter is starting to become a sports tradition like football on Thanksgiving or the Lambeau Leap.

The latest athlete to take part in the tradition is Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray, who, perhaps while watching the ESPYs Wednesday night, sent out this tweet:

Unlike with Robert Griffin III, we’ll presume Murray knows what Morgan looks like. Murray joins the likes of Evan Longoria and DeAngelo Hall, who both have been caught sending flirtatious tweets Morgan’s way.

Lest we forget this woman already has a boyfriend.
