We’re only entering Week 3 of the NFL season and Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt is already preparing for life beyond his current team. The former Rutgers standout was benched during a loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday after coaches became frustrated with his lack of effort and carelessness toward blocking. After the game, he sounded annoyed with the decision.
“I’d love to be involved as much as they want me to be, as much as I’ve been in the past,” Britt said, via The Tennessean. “But as the game rolls out, I am there when they need me. “I am not the coordinator and I am not the quarterback — they decide where the ball goes. I am still ready to go. It is a long season and we have a lot of games to go.”
Britt is in the final year of his rookie contract, and Sunday’s benching may have shown him that the team has no interest in bringing him back. On Tuesday, he sent out a tweet comparing his situation to that of former Titans tight end Jared Cook.
