NFL Picks Against the Spread Week 17 – Doc’s Last Supper

Doc Brown has been rocking and rolling over his past several weeks, racking up three double-digit win totals in the last four weeks. As Del mentioned in his picks, the challenge in Week 17 is figuring out which teams are still motivated and which ones are packing it in. The Packers, for instance, have nothing to play for. But Doc believes Matt Flynn is still a capable quarterback, so he’s picking them to win. Here are Doc’s picks for Week 17, with analysis of the Top 3 selections below.

NFL Picks Against the Spread Week 17 – Del’s Send-Off

Del has fallen flat on his face.  After what was likely the most embarrassing week in the history of Del’s selections, the only thing left to play for in Week 17 is the top-3 selections and a little dignity.  Del completely blew it in Week 16, posting a repulsive 3-12 record against the spread.  Simply put, you can’t pick em any worse than that.  The decent news (if there is any) is that the top-3 selections are guaranteed to finish the season above the 50-percent mark, and we’ll be looking to kill those in the final week of the season.  Week 17 is all about figuring out who still has something to play for, and Del has done his best to sort that out and try to end the year on a high note.  Without further admission of guilt, here are Del’s NFL Picks Week 17, with top-3 analysis after the chart. Remember to check back later in the week for Doc Brown’s final selections of the year.

NFL Picks Against the Spread Week 16 – Doc’s Selections

The Doc has been rolling lately, posting three straight strong weeks. We’re hoping to continue that through the rest of the season. There are plenty of question marks this week, especially considering so many games have playoff implications. How will the Giants-Jets game go? Will Seattle continue their hot ways and knock off the Niners? Can the Chargers keep it rolling in Detroit? Will the Raiders end their losing streak? The Doc’s picks are below, and there is some analysis after the chart.

NFL Picks Against the Spread Week 16 – Del’s Selections

If Del wants to have a chance to finish the season above the 50-percent mark with picks against the spread, he’s going to have to absolutely kill it over these least two weeks.  I’m talking completely demolish it.  There are only two weeks remaining and Del is 10 games below the 50-percent mark, so you do the math.  The good news is the top-3 picks killed it all season and continue to do pretty well.  Fortunately a lot of teams still have a lot to play for even though it is Week 16, so that should make picking games a little less complicated — so we think.  Here are Del’s Week 16 NFL Picks with analysis after the chart. Remember to check back later in the week for Doc Brown’s picks. We’re in the home stretch, people. Time to go hard.

NFL Picks Against the Spread Week 15 – Doc’s Selections

The Doc was strong against ATS and straight up with his picks in Week 14. It’s two weeks in a row of strong picks, though the Top 3 picks slid. For whatever reason, the Doc likes many road teams this week, and a lot of underdogs. Below are the Doc’s picks, with analysis of the Top 3 selections under the chart.

NFL Picks Against the Spread Week 15 – Del’s Selections

Week 14 was a decent week for Del, as he finished with a 9-7 record.  While any week above the .500 mark is a win, it will have to get better with only three weeks remaining.  Del will be looking to kill these last three weeks while still maintaining success in the top-3, which slipped a bit last week but is still well over the 50-percent mark on the season.  As for the overall picks against the spread, three monster weeks will be needed to get that up to par.  Anything’s possible.  Here are Del’s Week 15 NFL Picks, with top-3 analysis after the chart.  Remember to check back in a couple days for Doc Brown’s selections.

NFL PICKS WEEK 15
(ATS = Against the Spread, SU = Straight Up)

Although the Bengals have slipped lately, the Rams are one of the worst teams in the NFL. Cincinnati has lost back-to-back games to AFC opponents and is in desperate need of a win. Winning on the road in the NFL is never easy, but against a horrible team like St. Louis it should be. Andy Dalton needs to get back to playing consistent football and the Bengals defense has to feast on a struggling Rams offense. I expect they will and envision a blowout for the Bengals on the road.

The second team I decided to lock in this week was the Lions laying a point on the road. I’m not really a believer in Carson Palmer in the Raiders offense. Both teams desperately need a win and the game is in Oakland, but being that there is essentially no spread I feel confident in picking Detroit. They are the better team and Stafford looks like he’s back to his early-season form. It should be a big road win for the Lions that will get them a step closer to earning a wild card berth.

Finally, I’m going with the Cardinals laying 7 at home against the Browns. Arizona is the better team to begin with, let alone facing a struggling Cleveland team that will be without Colt McCoy. Beanie Wells should set the tone early and neither team is very good. The Browns should go from bad to worse without McCoy, which won’t be pretty for them traveling west.

NFL Picks Against the Spread Week 14 – Doc’s Selections

Doc finally bounced back with a big-time 12-4 week ATS and a 13-3 week straight up in Week 13. It’s not supposed to be that easy, which probably means a crash back to earth is coming. Injuries at the quarterback position have created questions in Tampa Bay, Chicago, St. Louis, Minnesota, and Houston. That’s making our job difficult, but we’re doing our best. Here are the picks, along with analysis on the Top 3 games below.
