Sami Khedira’s girlfriend Lena Gercke told by team to not dress sexy for Germany’s semifinal match
The German Football Association has reportedly told Lena Gercke, attractive lady and the girlfriend of national team midfielder Sami Khedira, to tone down the way she dresses for the German team’s semifinal match against Italy in Euro 2012 on Thursday.
According to the Daily Mail, Gercke has gotten all the attention among the other German WAGs (wives and girlfriends) at the tournament, leading to WAG in-fighting and thus posing a threat to team morale.
Depending on how closely you follow German soccer, you may know Gercke from her racy German GQ cover with Khedira. Earlier in the tournament she was seen wearing a pair of “skimpy shorts” to one match.
Now the former winner of Germany’s Next Top Model has been instructed to “not to hog the spotlight” before Thursday’s big match, which sounds awfully similar to another ridiculous WAG-related soccer controversy earlier this year. The German FA wants to make sure all the focus will be on the game. And yet by making a big deal out of this, it almost certainly guaranteed that all the focus won’t be on the game.
This might be the most ridiculous thing ever.
