Skaggs was found dead at a Hilton hotel on Monday where the Angels were staying prior to their series against the Texas Rangers. Police responded to a call about an unconscious man and Skaggs was declared dead on the scene. Police say no foul play or suicide was suspected.
The 27-year-old was having a solid season for the Angels and had a lengthy history with the team. He was drafted by the franchise in 2009, traded away to Arizona, and reacquired in a trade in 2013. The southpaw was 28-38 with a 4.41 career ERA.
