Angels to wear Tyler Skaggs patches for rest of season

Tyler Skaggs

The Los Angeles Angels will keep Tyler Skaggs on their hearts and minds for the rest of the season by wearing a patch on their jerseys moving forward.

The Angels plan to wear a black patch with the No. 45 on them to represent Skaggs’ uniform number.

Skaggs was found dead at a Hilton hotel on Monday where the Angels were staying prior to their series against the Texas Rangers. Police responded to a call about an unconscious man and Skaggs was declared dead on the scene. Police say no foul play or suicide was suspected.

The 27-year-old was having a solid season for the Angels and had a lengthy history with the team. He was drafted by the franchise in 2009, traded away to Arizona, and reacquired in a trade in 2013. The southpaw was 28-38 with a 4.41 career ERA.
