Blue Jays to reportedly sign Kendrys Morales to three-year deal
The Toronto Blue Jays are working to make sure their lineup is still strong in 2017.
According to FOX Sports’s Ken Rosenthal, the Blue Jays have agreed to terms with designated hitter Kendrys Morales on a three-year deal.

Morales is coming off a 30 home run season with the Kansas City Royals. He hit .263, and figures to slot into Toronto’s lineup as the regular designated hitter.
The biggest implication of the move may well turn out to be what it means for Edwin Encarnacion. He wants a big sum of money, and with Morales in Toronto, it seems that the only role that would fit for him would be as an everyday first baseman. It doesn’t necessarily take Toronto out of the running for Encarnacion, but it does seem a little bit less likely that they’ll keep him now that they have a different designated hitter.
