Brandon Nimmo crushes huge home run to Chop House against Braves

Brandon Nimmo after hitting a home run

The New York Mets appeared to be in trouble for most of their game against the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park in Atlanta, Ga. on Monday, but that’s until the 8th inning came around when Brandon Nimmo and the Mets got loose.

The Braves got out to a 3-0 lead thanks to home runs from Ozzie Albies and Ramon Laureano. They held that lead until the Mets exploded for six runs in the top of the 8th.

Spencer Schwellenbach, who had started the game for the Braves, allowed a leadoff double in the 8th and was pulled for Joe Jimenez, who allowed three straight hits and two runs. Then came in Raisel Iglesias, who allowed two runs to score immediately to surrender the lead before giving up a huge 2-run home run to Nimmo.

Nimmo’s home run sailed to the Chop House in right field and completed the six-spot for New York, improbably putting the Mets up 6-3. That was Nimmo’s 23rd home run of the season and gave him 90 RBIs.

Both teams entered the game needed to win at least one of the two games of the doubleheader in order to clinch a spot in the postseason.
