Braves open to trading Julio Teheran only for right offer
The Atlanta Braves aren’t exactly looking to trade Julio Teheran, but they are willing to move him if they get the proper haul in return, according to a report.
ESPN’s Jayson Stark says he heard from an exec that the Braves would move Teheran for the right deal. The haul in return would have to be greater than what they received for Shelby Miller.
Atlanta traded Miller to the Diamondbacks over the offseason for former No. 1 overall draft pick Dansby Swanson, Ender Inciarte, and another prospect. Swanson, who is in Double-A, is the centerpiece of that deal.
Previously, Jon Heyman reported that the Braves are 99.9 percent sure they’re not trading Teheran. That little window left open the possibility that they get blown away by a team that wants the pitcher that badly.
Teheran, 25, was one of the best prospects in baseball and has pitched like it this season. Though he is 3-7, Teheran has a 2.46 ERA and 0.89 WHIP with 99 strikeouts in 106 innings this season. The Colombian-born pitcher is 43-37 with a 3.30 ERA during his career.
