Cubs getting Kris Bryant, Addison Russell back from DL

Kris Bryant

The Chicago Cubs are getting part of their roster back as they enter play in the final month of the regular season.

The Cubs are planning to activate Kris Bryant and Addison Russell from the disabled list on Saturday. Bryant is expected to start.

Bryant last played on July 23. The former NL MVP has been dealing with a shoulder injury since May that has forced him to make multiple trips to the disabled list this season. He’s batted .276 with an .854 OPS in 76 games.

Russell has been out with a finger injury. He will probably be a role player now that Javy Baez has been playing shortstop and Daniel Murphy has done well at second base. The shortstop is batting .259 with a .685 OPS this season.
