Cleveland Indians DH Edwin Encarnacion left the team’s clubhouse at Progressive Field on Friday on crutches and in a walking boot after injuring his ankle during Game 2 of the ALDS.
Encarnacion rolled his ankle racing back to second base to try and beat a double-play attempt after Jay Bruce lined out to shortstop in the bottom of the first against the New York Yankees.

Encarnacion had to be helped off the field and was replaced by Michael Brantley at DH.
As the game continued, Encarnacion apparently left the clubhouse on crutches and in a walking boot.

If Encarnacion needs to miss time, the Indians would be able to replace his roster spot for the rest of the ALDS. However, if he is replaced, he would be ineligible to return for the ALCS. His status is something to watch.
