Most unlikely player hits triple in Game 1 of World Series
The absolute unlikeliest player managed to hit a triple during Game 1 of the World Series.
Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman sent pigs flying during the opening contest of the World Series against the New York Yankees on Friday. Facing Yankees ace Gerrit Cole in the first inning, the lefty Freeman managed to squib a 1-2 offering the other way for an extra base hit. Yankees left fielder Alex Verdugo then took an awful angle to the ball, which skipped by him as it caromed off the wall up the third-base line. That allowed Freeman to truck his way into third for an improbable three-bagger.
Here is the video.

The former NL MVP Freeman has been hobbled by a badly sprained ankle ever since the end of the regular season. While normally a four-to-six week injury, Freeman has been gutting through the injury during the postseason, requiring hours of treatment and preparation before every single game. That is what made the triple, which was also the first of Freeman’s playoff career, so implausible.
Freeman would ultimately be stranded at third after Dodgers teammate Teoscar Hernandez lined out to wrap up the first inning. But in terms of improbable baseball things, a Freeman triple on a bum ankle probably belongs in the same category as Bartolo Colon hitting a home run.
