Giancarlo Stanton has been hot throughout the postseason, and that continued into the World Series on Friday.
Stanton delivered the first home run of the Fall Classic when he took Los Angeles Dodgers starter Jack Flaherty deep to give the New York Yankees a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth inning of Game 1 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, Calif., on Friday night.
Flaherty had a shutout going until that point and threw Stanton a 1-2 breaking ball low in the zone. Stanton obliterated the ball to deep left field, just inside the foul pole.

That was Stanton’s sixth home run of the postseason.
Flaherty got his breaking ball down in the zone, but he just left on the inner part of the plate instead of the outer part as catcher Austin Wells was set up for.
The big home run even left players on the Dodgers impressed.

The game had been scoreless through four and a half innings until the Dodgers took the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly. The lead was short-lived as Stanton homered the next half inning.
