Hall of Fame requests item from record-setting Twins pitcher
Minnesota Twins relief pitcher Oliver Drake has earned the title of journeyman in a matter of a few months, and the Hall of Fame wants to honor him for it.
The Twins are the fifth — that’s right, the fifth — team Drake has pitched for this season. Prior to being claimed by Minnesota last month, Drake was designated for assignment by the Milwaukee Brewers, Cleveland Indians, Los Angeles Angels and Toronto Blue Jays. That may not sound glamorous, but it’s an MLB record that the folks in Cooperstown want to recognize.
Cooperstown calls: The Hall of Fame wanted an item from Oliver Drake, who set an MLB record by playing for five different teams this season. The Twins are obliging by sending his cap from tonight — he struck out the side in the eighth.

While he has a 6.05 ERA on the year, Drake has actually pitched well since joining the Twins. The right-hander has allowed just four hits in 11 1/3 innings and has a 2.38 ERA in nine appearances with Minnesota.
Despite being in only his fourth MLB season, Drake has now pitched for six different clubs. We know one NBA player who knows how he feels, but the 31-year-old is probably thankful he’s still pitching in the big leagues.
