Jacob Misiorowski may eventually develop into a superstar, but what should the Milwaukee Brewers do with him entering the postseason?
After an electrifying start to his professional career, Misiorowski has cooled off — even gone cold — over the past six weeks. He posted a 9.58 ERA in August and, through four games in September, has gone 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy intends to keep Misiorowski on the postseason roster, but it may come with a reduced role.
The Brewers will weigh the possibility of pitching Jacob Misiorowski out of the bullpen during the final week of the season, Pat Murphy said. They’re trying to find the right playoff role for him and “he’s not doing great on the front end here.”

“Obviously, he’s not doing great on the front end here, so that’s got to be a consideration,” Murphy said of playing Misiorowski out of the bullpen, via MLB.com. “We’re certainly not going to put him in the eighth or the ninth, but he can get outs for us, and he’s going to develop into a really good pitcher.
“I don’t know what we’ll end up deciding, but I think it’s obvious that right now he’s not on track as a starter. That doesn’t mean he won’t be. He certainly will be in the future.”
The 23-year-old Misiorowski does have some closing experience, having done it in Triple-A, but Murphy doesn’t plan on dipping his toe into those waters in the playoffs.
Instead, Misiorowski, the future Brewers ace, will likely see action as a middle relief guy out of the pen.
