Giancarlo Stanton may not play for the New York Yankees again this season, and that news had a lot of fans thinking the same thing.
The Yankees revealed that Stanton, who has been out due to a right calf problem since April, suffered an injury to his other calf recently. The setback likely rules the slugger out for the remainder of the season.
Fans think it is not just the season that is over for Stanton. Many believe that we have already seen the last of Stanton in pinstripes as a result of his latest injury.
This may be the end of Stanton’s tenure with the Yankees and maybe his career. The Yankees are well equipped to navigate this but it just sucks for Giancarlo. He’s one of my favorites. https://t.co/v4XQyWNgvq

Giancarlo Stanton is a borderline HoF player, who has done nothing but try to help lead the Yankees to a championship. Feels like this is the end and it sucks for it to go this way.

His legs just failed him https://t.co/WCM8sHSV37
The Yankees need to move on from Giancarlo. It was a fun run, but they don’t need him on the roster at this point. https://t.co/9EEv5sKTNL

It really might be time for Giancarlo Stanton to retire. This is absurd. https://t.co/xW6bZm1Vqf

I’m fairly certain we’ve seen Giancarlo Stanton’s last appearance in pinstripes. https://t.co/E2HxkdTHfD

Stanton still has one remaining year on his contract, but it would not be a shock if the Yankees just ate the money and cut bait at this point. He has played in just 101 games over the last two seasons, and even before that he was prone to missing significant portions of the year. He still has enormous power when healthy, but those moments have come few and far between over the last few years.
If this is it for Stanton as a Yankee, the 36-year-old certainly made his mark on the franchise. Fans will fondly remember his run through the 2024 postseason that led the team to an AL pennant.
