After the Indians clinched a World Series berth, Jason Kipnis fired back at Jose Bautista over his comments about Ryan Merritt.
Merritt is a 24-year-old rookie, who only appeared in four games this season for Cleveland. Based on his lack of major league experience, Bautista talked a bit of trash ahead of Wednesday’s game. You can see what he said here.
Merritt and the Indians got the last laugh, though. Cleveland closed out the series with a 3-0 victory. Merritt pitched 4.1 innings and allowed no runs and two hits while striking out three. Remembering what Bautista said, Kipnis had this response after the game.
Jason Kipnis on Bautista's shaking-in-his-boots comments regarding Ryan Merritt: "That’s why you don’t say dumb s**t." #ALCS

And with that we can close the book on the 2016 season for the Blue Jays. For the Indians, they’re headed to their first World Series since 1997 and there aren’t many people more excited than LeBron James.
World Series here we come!! Congrats Boyz!! @Indians #RallyTogether
