The New York Mets are bringing back a key depth piece for the 2025 season.
The Mets re-signed outfielder Jesse Winker on Thursday, according to multiple reports. Joel Sherman of the New York Post reported that Winker’s deal is for one year and $7 million with the chance to earn additional bonuses.

The Mets acquired Winker midseason last year, and he quickly became a valued depth piece for the team despite some negative history with the team’s fans. He really endeared himself in the postseason, when he hit .318 with two triples, a home run, and four RBI. He certainly brought a bit of energy to the team as well, as he helped rile up the Milwaukee Brewers during their NL Wild Card series.

The Mets are still in the market for a more significant free agent of theirs. It is unclear if bringing Winker back impacts that, but they are leaving nothing to chance while those negotiations continue, and are determined to fortify the rest of their roster.
