Defeating the Yankees at Yankee Stadium in a clinching game is an overwhelming experience. New York has a lineup that is nearly impossible to conquer, so when your pitching staff holds the Yankees to three runs over the nine most important innings of the year it’s understandable to be overcome by emotions. Hopefully Jimmy has changed his socks and underwear by now for Valverde’s sake. I’m sure the closer doesn’t want to risk being soiled after his 51-for-51 performance in saves to this point in the season. You know you must have done something right for that guy to plant one on you.
