Ken Griffey Jr. joined baseball’s elite when he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame this weekend. The 13-time all-star didn’t just take his place among them, he did so in the most Ken Griffey Jr. way possible.

Throughout his 22-year career, Griffey made his mark on the game like few have or will. His swing was near perfection. He glided effortlessly around center field on his way to 10 Gold Glove Awards. And, who could forget him launching long balls during the 1993 home run derby with his hat on backwards.

On Sunday, Griffey took everyone who remembers his playing days back in time some 20 years when he reached behind the podium, pulled out a cap, and put it on backwards. He then looked out over the applauding crowd and gave a simple “thank you.”

The only thing better would have been a backwards hat on his Hall of Fame plaque.
