Mark Canha had 4 RBIs in his debut and dropped Bull Durham in his interview. So awesome. @JaneMLB

Oakland A’s rookie Mark Canha had a heck of a debut on Wednesday night. Not only did he crush the ball by going 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and four RBIs in a 10-0 win over the Texas Rangers, but he also went viral for his awesome postgame interview.

Canha, who apparently is well-schooled when it comes to his baseball movie education, cited Crash Davis’ cliche advice from “Bull Durham” during his postgame interview with the media.

“Just trying to help the ballclub. Give it my best shot. And the good Lord willing, things will work out,” Canha said, quoting Kevin Costner’s character.

Canha’s quotes were not lost on the media. MLB.com’s Jane Lee asked Canha about the lines Thursday.

“I mean, I’ve been waiting to pull that one out,” he told Lee. “I just think there’s some good advice in that movie, so I went ahead and took old Crash’s advice.”

Hey man, any time a player wants to quote Crash Davis, I’m all for it. And if they want to break out a slump-busting thong too, that’s cool.

Brilliantly executed, Canha. And we love the smirk he offered at the end, too. He knew exactly what he was doing.
