Mets’ asking price for Noah Syndergaard is reportedly too high
The New York Mets continue to engage in trade discussions surrounding Noah Syndergaard as the deadline nears, but it sounds like they will hang onto the right-hander barring a last-second change.
According to Jon Morosi of MLB.com, the Mets have placed such a high asking price on Syndergaard that at least one rival executive doubts he will be traded.

The Mets look like they want to make a playoff push this season now that they have acquired Marcus Stroman, so they don’t want to trade Syndergaard unless they are getting at least one MLB-level player in return. One team has reportedly made an offer that includes multiple MLB-level players, but the Mets could be seeking that in addition to top prospects.
While Syndergaard is under team control through 2021, all teams have a limit to what they will spend. The Mets are likely just dangling Syndergaard on the market to see if some team will overpay for him, but they appear to be content to move forward with him, Stroman and Jacob deGrom anchoring their starting rotation.
