Nationals manager to speak with Juan Soto about showboating on home run
Washington Nationals manager Davey Martinez says he plans to speak with Juan Soto about the way the youngster handled things after his big home run in Game 6 of the World Series on Tuesday night.
Soto smacked a monster home run in the fifth inning of the game to put his Nats up 3-2. He decided to carry the bat all the way to his first base coach, which was the same thing Alex Bregman had done after homering against Washington in the first.
Martinez told reporters after the game that the Nats didn’t like it when Bregman did it and that he didn’t like it when Soto did it either.
Dave Martinez said “we didn’t like it” when Bregman carried the bat to first base. Then said “I didn’t like it” when Soto carried his bat to first. Said he would talk to Soto about it

Sorry, Davey, but maybe this isn’t the time to mess with your stud’s swagger by talking to him about his celebrations or showing up the opposing team. The guy is hot with three home runs in the World Series. Let him be. Plus, it wasn’t like he was instigating; he was responding, and he gave your team the lead for good. Maybe the Nats needed his energy and confidence, especially with Game 7 looming.
