Padres trade top prospect Luis Urias to Brewers for Zach Davies, Trent Grisham
The San Diego Padres have one of the deepest farm systems in baseball, and they traded one of their top prospects to the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday.
According to numerous reports, the Padres are sending infielder Luis Urias to the Brewers in exchange for starting pitcher Zach Davies and outfielder Trent Grisham.
Gah! Shortstop Luis Urías and LHP Eric Lauer to Milwaukee, OF Trent Grisham and RHP Zach Davies to San Diego.
Zach Davies. Zach Davies. Zach Davies.

Urias is considered one of the top-three prospects in the Padres’ system. Grisham is one of the better prospects the Brewers have, though he’s known for a moment of playoff infamy. Davies made 31 starts in Milwaukee last season and compiled a 10-7 record with a 3.55 ERA.
It is interesting that San Diego decided to part ways with the 22-year-old Urias in this deal, as they had been hesitant to trade him last season and reportedly did not want to include him in a potential deal for one of the game’s top starting pitchers. However, Jon Morosi of MLB Network noted that the impressive play of second baseman Esteban Quiroz made Urias more expendable for the Padres.
In today's trade between the #Padres and #Brewers, one factor is the emergence of San Diego 2B Esteban Quiroz. The 27-year-old starred for @MexicoBeis at the @WBSC @Premier12, thus making Luis Urias more expendable from San Diego's perspective. @MLB @MLBNetwork

Urias looks like he still needs more time in the minors, as he hit just .223 with four home runs and 24 RBI in 71 games with the Padres last season.
