The Colorado Rockies appear to have no shortage of suitors to fill the managerial vacancy left by the departure of Walt Weiss.
According to a report by Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post on Thursday, ex-Milwaukee Brewers manager Ron Roenicke has indicated his interest in becoming the next manager of the Rockies.
Roenicke, 60, managed the Brewers from 2011 to 2015, compiling a record of 342-331 (.508) over five seasons and leading the team to one postseason appearance. He was fired after a 7-18 start to the 2015 campaign.
After since returning to his old post as third base coach of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Roenicke joins fellow ex-NL skipper and Angels colleague Bud Black in indicating his interest in the Rockies job. Earlier reports suggested that current Rockies’ Triple-A manager Glenallen Hill could be a candidate as well, meaning that the team is in a good place in terms of potential options to choose from.
