Report: Royals asking more for Wade Davis than Yankees got for Aroldis Chapman
If you were wondering what the price of relief pitching is on the trade market right now, it’s exceptionally high.
According to ESPN’s Jayson Stark, the Royals are taking calls for closer Wade Davis, but if a team wants him they’ll have to pay up.
An example of deals the Royals are mulling: A team that asked about Wade Davis said it was told the Chapman package "wouldn't get it done"

For reference, the Yankees got two preseason top 100 prospects for Chapman. It’s difficult to imagine any team being able to top that.
This falls right in line with a previous report about Davis’s value. At this point, you would have to doubt that he gets traded before the August 1 deadline.
