Walker Buehler sends vulgar message to critics after Dodgers win World Series

Walker Buehler is talking his trash now that he is officially a two-time World Series champion.

Buehler and the Los Angeles Dodgers came from behind in Game 5 of the World Series on Wednesday against the New York Yankees to win the 2024 championship. With the Dodgers holding a 7-6 lead in the ninth inning, it was the veteran starting pitcher Buehler whom they turned to for the save. Buehler, who had just started in Game 3 three days prior, responded with a 1-2-3 inning to clinch the World Series title for the Dodgers (as well as the first-ever save of Buehler’s career).

Walker Buehler giving an interview

The two-time All-Star Buehler was interviewed on the field by FOX’s Ken Rosenthal after recording the last out. During the interview, Buehler had a vulgar message for critics of the Dodgers’ 2020 World Series title.

“Everybody talks s–t about 2020, but there’s not much they can say about it now,” Buehler said.

Here is the video (featuring the expletive bleeped out because it was aired on a slight delay by FOX).

It was a great moment for Buehler especially since he overcame multiple surgeries, including two separate Tommy John procedures, and had not looked to be in form for years now. But with the Dodgers rotation ailing (featuring Tyler Glasnow, Clayton Kershaw, Tony Gonsolin, and several other starters on the injured list), Buehler stepped up in the playoffs and delivered when the team needed him most.

As for the Dodgers’ 2020 World Series title, which Buehler was also a part of, it has often been mocked by critics for having occurred after a 60-game regular season and at a neutral-site location in Texas due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But with the Dodgers finally winning another championship four years later (and under full and normal circumstances), they have effectively put that argument to rest. That said though, critics will probably soon find another argument to make, namely that the Dodgers spent over a billion dollars last winter and/or that the Yankees were responsible for beating themselves in Game 5.
