The New York Yankees reportedly have emerged as a leading contender to acquire Zach Britton in a trade with the Baltimore Orioles.
The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal identified the Yankees as a “front-runner” to acquire Britton. He even says that minor league pitcher Dillon Tate was scratched from his start in Double-A, which seems like a hint that he could be part of Baltimore’s return.
#Yankees have emerged as clear front-runner for #Orioles’ Britton, sources tell The Athletic. NYY scratched RHP Dillon Tate from his start tonight at Double A. As always, no deal is complete until all medicals are approved by both clubs.

The Yankees are looking to shore up their team as the season heads into its final months. Adding Britton to a bullpen that already includes Aroldis Chapman, Dellin Betances, Jonathan Holder and David Robertson would make them even better. The Yankees are also said to be looking at one of Toronto’s starters too.
