Earlier this week, the 2016 Basketball Hall of Fame class was announced. Among the inductees are Shaquille O’Neal, Allen Iverson, and Yao Ming. On Friday, Iverson was honored prior to the game between the Sixers and Knicks.
The former Sixers guard was introduced to the crowd at Wells Fargo Center as a Hall of Famer before walking out to a rousing applause. He then presented the game ball to the referees.
Iverson was drafted by the Sixers in 1996 and spent the first 10 full seasons of his career in Philadelphia. He ranks sixth in franchise history in games played (722), second in points (19,931), third in assists (4,385), and second in steals (1,644). Iverson was also an 11-time all-star, four-time scoring champion, and was named Rookie of the Year in 1997 as well as MVP in 2001.
