Amare Stoudemire Reportedly Interested in Opening a Hebrew School
Amare Stoudemire has really been embracing his roots since learning that he had some Jewish heritage on his mother’s side of the family. He’s visited Israel, learned a little Hebrew, and he’s even consuming somewhat of a Kosher diet. Now, the New York Daily News reports that he may be interested in opening a Hebrew school.
Amar’e Stoudemire wants to get into education, but it has nothing to do with basketball. A source close to the New York Knick tells us the power forward is interested in opening a Hebrew school, which would focus on teaching the language and Jewish history. The insider says the idea appears to be on the back burner for the time being but that Stoudemire has discussed it seriously.
Nothing may be imminent, but it’s just funny that he’s even considered it. Amare is becoming pretty heavily involved in ideas off the court. We hope he doesn’t get too distracted with these projects, but at least opening a school would be a much more worthwhile idea than his latest venture.
Chest bump to Deadspin for the assist.
