One of Anthony Edwards’ old quotes came back to haunt him after his Minnesota Timberwolves were blown out in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals.

The Timberwolves got demolished by the Dallas Mavericks in a 124-103 affair at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn. The Mavs instantly took control in the first quarter and pushed their lead to 36 points midway through the third.

Dallas’ beatdown of Minnesota on the latter’s home floor in an elimination game resembled the Mavericks’ Game 7 road win over the Phoenix Suns in the 2022 Western Conference semifinals. Dallas had embarrassed Phoenix by 33 points during the May 2022 contest, which prompted Edwards to mock the Suns on Instagram at the time.

“This is a disgrace, bruh. Y’all got 36 points in the third quarter? This is terrible,” Edwards had said in an Instagram story.

After Thursday’s Game 5 result, several fans clowned Edwards for suffering the same fate as the Suns he made fun of two seasons ago.

The Timberwolves outscored the Mavericks in each of the final two quarters. But the 29-point hole Edwards and his team fell into at halftime was just far too deep to climb out of.

Luka Doncic singlehandedly outscored the Timberwolves 20-19 in the first quarter. The Mavericks star appeared to have been fueled by one Timberwolves fan’s disrespectful gesture early in the contest.

Doncic finished with 36 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists on 14/22 shooting. Edwards tallied 28 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists.
