Ayesha Curry says she regrets tweets about rigged NBA

Ayesha Curry

Ayesha Curry says she regrets getting caught up in the moment and tweeting about how the NBA is “rigged” after the Warriors’ Game 6 loss in the NBA Finals.

Curry told People Magazine that she hadn’t meant to offend with her remarks, but simply got too emotional in the moment.

“I was just a fan in that moment so I didn’t think about the ramifications,” Curry said. “I regret the way that I voiced how hurt I was. I felt hurt for [Steph], and I didn’t mean to offend anybody. Obviously, what I wrote is not what I think about what he does for a living.”

Curry admitted that she has read some of the hateful comments sent to her and it does bother her.

“Since all this hoopla has happened, I have been a victim of reading the comments,” Curry said. “It hurts my feelings because I didn’t intend to hurt anybody. I apologized for it, and I feel like people should move on. There’s a lot more serious things going on in the world.”

Curry’s husband has encouraged her to be herself in the face of the criticism.

“I know her intentions. I know where she was coming from,” Stephen Curry said. “You’re not going to win any battles on Twitter, so I tell her, ‘Keep being you. Keep doing what you’re doing. Don’t worry about what people are going to say. No matter who you are, they are going to try to find something to try to get under your skin and make you be somebody you’re not.'”

Ayesha Curry already apologized long ago for her remarks. She has since been subjected to some over-the-top criticisms that she has hit back against. Virtually every sports fan has said something stupid amidst the stress of an important game. Most just don’t have the visibility that Curry has. It’s long past time to move on.
