Boban Marjanovic makes big career decision
Uncle Boban is officially headed back overseas.
Veteran NBA writer Marc Stein reported on Tuesday that big man Boban Marjanovic has agreed to join Fenerbahce, a powerhouse team in Turkey. Notably though, the deal contains an opt-out clause that would allow for him to potentially return to the NBA during a brief window in December.
Marjanovic, who stands 7-foot-4, is one of the biggest fan favorites in all of basketball. He had spent the last nine seasons in the NBA with six different teams and has become beloved for his positive energy and goodwill (even toward opposing fans) as well as for his memeability (especially when he starts partying).
Now 36 years old, Marjanovic had spent the last two seasons seeing very limited run for the Houston Rockets (3.3 points and 2.0 rebounds in 5.4 rebounds a game overall). But now he will be getting a shot for some real playing time with a storied European team in Fenerbahce along with the opportunity to potentially return to the NBA within the next few months.
