Bradley Beal addresses his viral comment about getting swept
Phoenix Suns guard Bradley Beal at least has a sense of humor about getting swept for the first time in his career.
Beal spoke to the media on Monday, a day after his Suns were swept by the Minnesota Timberwolves to end their season. Prior to Game 4, Beal had said he would “be damned” if he was on a team that got swept, which turned out to be precisely what happened.
Beal certainly remembered his own comment. As he sat down to speak to the media, he smirked and simply said: “I’ll be damned, man.”

Beal is definitely laughing in spite of himself, because there is not much funny about how the Suns’ season concluded. To make matters worse, he was awful in Game 4, scoring just nine points while turning the ball over six times. Whether he meant to or not, he also helped fuel speculation about coach Frank Vogel’s job status with one move he made during the game.
The Suns brought in Beal last offseason at great expense to try to win an NBA title. What they got was an injury-riddled season in which he averaged 18.2 points per game, his lowest total since 2015-16. With three years and roughly $160 million left on his contract and a full no-trade clause in place, he probably isn’t going anywhere, so he will have to be better next season.
