The Chicago Bulls will have to soldier on without Josh Giddey for the foreseeable future.

The Australian point guard hurt his hamstring early in the third quarter of the Bulls’ game Monday against the Minnesota Timberwolves at the United Center in Chicago, Ill. Giddey came up limping after bringing the ball up on the opening possession of the second half.

According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Giddey was diagnosed with a left hamstring strain and is expected to be sidelined for “at least a few weeks.”

Losing Giddey for an extended period of time would be a serious blow to a Bulls team that heavily relies on his playmaking ability.

Through 30 games played this season, Giddey has averaged a team-best 9.0 assists and is tied for the lead in both points (19.2) and rebounds (8.9) per contest. All marks are career highs for the 23-year-old.

Look no further than Monday’s game as a testament to Giddey’s impact on team success. The Bulls trailed 55-53 when Giddey checked out and ended up losing 136-101 without their lead guard.

With Giddey on the sidelines, Chicago will lean more heavily on Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu for backcourt production.
