TUMS offering Cavs fans free heartburn medicine if LeBron James leaves
Cleveland Cavaliers fans worried about suffering gastrointestinal distress if LeBron James leaves in free agency this summer are in luck.
In a press release on Friday, TUMS announced that they will be offering free heartburn medicine to the Cavs faithful should the four-time MVP depart.
“Hey Cleveland, is the basketball free agency mania triggering heartburn? TUMS feels your pain and will deliver free TUMS at the first home game of next season if your star decides to take his talents to another team,” wrote TUMS brand manager Valeria Saccol, per Anne Nickoloff of Cleveland.com. “TUMS may not be able to convince him to stay in The Land, but at least we can provide heartburn relief for fans who need it.”
James informed the Cavs earlier in the day on Friday that he will officially be declining his $35.6 million player option for next season. While that means that Cleveland will be able to offer him a more lucrative long-term contract, it has also fueled further speculation that James may be on the brink of leaving.
Regardless though of if the 33-year-old opts to stay or to go, a dose of TUMS might be helpful after the last such promotion we saw in the Cleveland area.
