Cavs Twitter account starts following Dwyane Wade, Gabrielle Union

Gabrielle Union Dwyane Wade

What did it mean when LeBron James randomly unfollowed the Cleveland Cavaliers on Twitter back in March? Absolutely nothing. The Cavs went on to win a title and all is well between LeBron and the team. What does it mean that the Cavs’ official Twitter account just started following Dwyane Wade and his wife? Probably the same.

On Tuesday, Stephen Douglas of The Big Lead noticed that the two most recent accounts the Cavs have followed are Wade’s and Gabrielle Union’s.

Could that be a coincidence? It seems unlikely. Does it mean Wade is going to sign with the Cavs? Certainly not.

Perhaps the person running the Cavs’ Twitter account was trying to create a buzz, and kudos to him/her if that was the case. While Wade is said to be getting frustrated with the Miami Heat, Cleveland doesn’t have nearly enough salary cap space to sign him. At the moment, the only thing they could offer D-Wade is a mid-level exception contract of $3.4 million for one season. Since he reportedly wants more than the $20 million per season the Heat are offering, Wade would have to like his buddy LeBron James an awful lot to take that salary from the Cavs.

The rumors of Wade considering a reunion with LeBron are out there, and we even got some of the private jet flight tracking speculation already. You can never rule anything out, but Cavs fans should contain their excitement for now.
