The Cleveland Cavaliers may bet getting cold feet about the trade they agreed to that will send Kyrie Irving to Boston, but that does not mean the deal is in danger of being nixed altogether.
Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com says he was told by a source with knowledge of the Cavs’ thinking that the trade will still be completed. Cleveland is trying to get the Celtics to include another draft pick, and the two sides reportedly have until Wednesday to work out all of the details if they do not extend the deadline.
The Cavs apparently were not happy with the results of Isaiah Thomas’ physical. Thomas missed the last three games of the postseason after injuring his hip, and he may not be ready for the start of next season. However, the Celtics insist they were transparent about all of that while working out the trade, so they don’t feel they should have to add anymore compensation.

If the Cavs are still holding out for one of Boston’s two young potential stars, they are not going to have any luck. It’s possible the Celtics could end up throwing in one of their own future first-round picks or a second-round pick, but Cleveland doesn’t really have any leverage.
