Clippers fined for tampering over Rivers’ Kawhi Leonard comments
The Los Angeles Clippers have fallen into the tampering trap over some comments made by head coach Doc Rivers.
The NBA announced Friday that the Clippers have been fined $50,000 for comments made by Rivers about Kawhi Leonard on an ESPN NBA Finals preview show.
The Los Angeles Clippers have been fined $50,000 by NBA for violating the league’s anti-tampering rule when Doc Rivers publicly commented on Kawhi Leonard.

Rivers said during the TV appearance that Leonard is “the most like [Michael] Jordan that we’ve seen.”

Talking like this about another team’s player is enough to draw a tampering fine, especially when you consider how badly the Clippers want to sign Leonard as a free agent. Rivers got to make his point, though, and the Clippers will probably be comfortable paying the fine.
