Danny Green had ‘good’ conversation with Lakers
Danny Green has won two championships with two different teams alongside Kawhi Leonard, and the veteran swingman may end up pursuing a third.
Green, like Leonard, is an unrestricted free agent. Numerous teams have expressed interest in signing him, but his podcast co-host Harrison Sanford said early Monday morning that one of Green’s better phone conversations was with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Danny Green’s associate says Lakers called Danny Green. He says it was one of the longer calls and a good one.

That could be another positive sign for the Lakers. After what the Raptors accomplished last season, Green would likely prefer to re-sign with Toronto if that’s what Leonard was doing. The fact that he had a “good” conversation with the Lakers could indicate he is open to the idea of following Leonard to LA.
If the Lakers do sign Kawhi, they would only have enough money left over to sign Green to a mid-level exception contract, which is $4.7 million. That’s less than half of the $10 million he made in Toronto last season.
The reported details of Leonard’s conversation with Magic Johnson certainly make it seem like the NBA Finals MVP is seriously considering signing with the Lakers. Should that happen, it would not be a surprise if Green signed with LA next.
